Maru Weke
(sp. Parupeneus pleurostigma)
This Side Spot Goatfish was caught on the east shore of Oahu. It uses its barbels reminiscent of a goat beard, to stir up the sandy bottom or probe rocky terrain. The dark circle or “maru” in Japanese is contrasted by the intense orange body color.
